Getting started with LiteSpeed

Starten met LiteSpeed WordPress Hosting - Getting started with LiteSpeed Hosting at Yourwebhoster.eu

Yourwebhoster.eu is a big fan of speed. That is why LiteSpeed is running on all of our servers. Don’t know what LiteSpeed is yet? That’s not a problem at all. In the blog about LiteSpeed WordPress Hosting we’re diving in deep to welcome you in the world of extensive speed and a ton of advantages. In short: LiteSpeed is known for its speed and efficiency. Ready to get started with LiteSpeed?

What is LiteSpeed Cache?

To be very short: LiteSpeed Cache accelerates your website like no other. The dynamic content is accelerated by functions similar to Apache mod_cache. They get this done by using adaptable, efficient and basically a native implementation within the LiteSpeed server. This reduces the server load, which has a favorable effect on the loading time of your website and its pages.

Starting with LiteSpeed

It doesn’t matter how many customers you have that purchase hosting from you. At Yourwebhoster we always have a plan that suits you. We have starter plan, growth packages, but also pro plan. The larger the plan, the more customers can be placed on the plan. Of course, the bandwidth and disk space grow along with your plan.

As mentioned, all of  our servers are equipped with LiteSpeed. That means that you don’t have to do anything yourself regarding LiteSpeed and servers. All you need to do to get started with LiteSpeed is installing the LS Cache plugin, also known as the LiteSpeed Cache plugin. If you just follow the next few steps, you’ll be just fine.

  1. Go to the WordPress dashboard of your website.
  2. Go to Plugins in the left menu and click New Plugin.
  3. Search for LiteSpeed.
  4. Click Install behind the plugin name LiteSpeed Cache.
Once the installation is complete, you can click Activate.

Cool, I've installed LiteSpeed. Does it work instantly?

Unfortunately, LiteSpeed will still need to be configured. By using our manual, you’ll be done in no time!

You start by applying for a domain key. This authorizes your website on the LiteSpeed optimization servers. This allows you to use a CDN, but it also allows you to optimize your images. When you use many and/or heavy images on your website, it is useful to use this. This drastically improves loading times.

Requesting a domain key takes about 15 minutes. In the meantime, we can continue setting up LiteSpeed.

LiteSpeed Cache preset

The LiteSpeed Cache plugin has a number of settings profiles, also called presets. You can use these presets to optimize the website. The range of presets are various, but the higher preset used, the more parts of your website are cached and optimized. The presets can be found under LiteSpeed Cache -> Presets.

Choose a profile and click Apply preset. The “Advanced” profile is recommended because it contains the most important settings for efficient caching of your website.

When the basic settings have been loaded, the website will place all pages in the memory of the server on the next visit. On a second visit, the website is therefore a lot faster than it was during the first visit!

Note: The more that’s cached and optimized, the more chance there is of errors in the website. At Yourwebhoster.eu we welcome experimenting with the different presets, but we recommend you to make backups when you start experimenting with them.

Does my website require LiteSpeed WordPress hosting?

If you have any doubts about the health score of your website in terms of speed, you can always take a look at Google’s Pagespeed or GTmetrix. These tools can share very valuable information about the speed of your website. In addition to the speed score of your website, these tools also ensure that it becomes clear to you where other optimizations can be achieved.

At Yourwebhoster.eu we recommend the use of LiteSpeed. Not only your website visitors will be happy with LiteSpeed, Google will also be happy you’re using LiteSpeed. Think about scoring higher in Google’s search results, but also the advertising costs when advertising via Google Ads. Target pages with a good load time improve the quality scores of your ads. The higher the quality score, the lower the click price. Lower costs, but higher conversion rates. Who wouldn’t want that?
